Monthly Soma
Monthly Soma events offer you a space to gather in conscious community and gift yourself a moment to pause. These sessions will combine embodiment practices such as somatic movement, gentle Yin yoga and sound baths to connect deeply with ourselves. They’ve been designed to build on one another throughout the year, but can also be experienced as stand-alone workshops.

November: Awakening the Spine in collaboration with Echo Elliott
2-5.30pm on Saturday 29th November at Soul Studio
Our spine is so much more than a simple backbone - it holds the spinal river, a river of tremendous strength and potential that flows through the spinal shaft. In this fourth instalment of Monthly Soma we’ll look to create freedom and fluidity within the spine.
May: Soft Core
Sunday 18th May from 2-5.30pm at The Light Centre (Belgravia)
We’ve come to think of our ‘core’ in a way that isolates it from the rest of our body. Within somatic movement however, the core is viewed as a vital connection point that is capable of stabilising us through complex movement patterns. By emphasising a softer, more fluid approach to the core body we’ll unlock new and powerful ways of engaging with our soft tissue.
March: Sacred Centre
Saturday 1st March from 12-3.30pm at Soma Home
Across many movement traditions the pelvis is considered the body’s keystone – it helps us maintain our posture, connects the movements of the upper body with the lower limbs, while also providing support to our organs. In this second instalment of Monthly Soma we’ll continue to deepen our felt experience of the body by exploring the pelvis as the origin of the spine, whose flow is harnessed by movements within the pelvic floor and subtle articulations of the sacrum.
February: Fully Rooted
Sunday 2nd February from 2-5.30pm at Soma Home
In this first instalment of Monthly Soma we’ll establish the foundations of what’s to come by exploring the ever-changing nature of how we find balance and grounding within the body and, by extension, we explore what gives our mind a sense of stability.
What is Monthly Soma?
These monthly half-day retreats aim to create a space where we’re able to deepen our connection to ourselves through ‘embodiment practices’ such as somatic movement, Yin yoga and sound baths. Embodiment practices use the body as a tool for healing by increasing our self-awareness, self-regulation and self-acceptance. By gifting ourselves this intentional moment to pause each month we allow time to self-reflect, to gather momentum and often return to daily life with more focus.
What is Somatic movement?
Somatics is a movement practice that focuses on the internal perception of the body, emphasising how something feels rather than how it looks. The often free-form, creative and exploratory nature of somatic movement can put us quite far out of our comfort zone if we’re more used to going from one familiar pose to another. These half-day retreats are specifically aimed at giving you a gradual introduction to the central ideas of somatics and will encourage you to reconnect to your body’s innate intelligence. You’ll learn to harness mindful attention and gentle movement to heighten awareness of your Self and your sensations. Many will also uncover an increased ease and range of motion, improved flexibility and coordination. This method of movement has proven benefits for professional athletes, actors, dancers, martial artists, as well as those working around pain and/or physical limitations. All levels of experience will be most welcome.

Saturday 30th September 2023
3-5pm at Basic Space
We spend a large portion of our lives in motion - often moving from point a to point b - without much thought behind the intentions or motivations for these everyday actions.
For many of us, yoga represents the first time we experience the possibility of moving mindfully and consciously which is what draws us into this ancient practice. But even within yoga the postures and transitions can become overly familiar territory.
In this workshop I’ll be sharing, for the first time, a more fully-formed expression of my personal movement practice which weaves together a rich tapestry of teachings from the worlds of yoga, somatics and soft acrobatics.
Yoga will provide us with a common ground from which we can venture towards new possibilities. Somatic explorations will allow us to bring an element of curiosity to the in-between moments as we transition through postures, while soft acrobatics will expand our repertoire of free-flowing, dynamic movement that is more akin to the unpredictable nature of how we move through everyday life.
My hope is that you leave the workshop with a whole arsenal of new tools under your belt, empowering you to continue to develop and expand your own movement practice to support you through life.

Saturday 15th July 2023
2.30-4.30pm at Yogacampus
Our simplest and earliest movement patterns form the stepping stones that carry us through life, as well as leading us towards more complex and dynamic ranges of motion. In this workshop series we will scale back our physical yoga practice to its most basic forms - sitting, standing, walking and lying down.
By looking at these postures through a somatic lens we’ll explore our unique individual alignment, break free from habitual movement patterns and discover new possibilities. As we reintegrate these insights into our yoga practice they will allow us to move from the inside out with more ease, skill and grace.
Each workshop will include:
Breath awareness
Somatic movement exploration
Restorative & Yin yoga practice
Guided meditation

Sunday 3rd March 2019
1-4 pm at Studio Om
“I am the Soul in the body, the Mind in the senses, the eagle among the birds, the lion among animals. Among all trees I am the sacred Bodhi tree, and of the seasons I am Spring.”
- Lord Krishna describing himself in The Bhagavad Gita
Our Western culture commonly associates Spring with change: we Spring-clean our homes, we donate or throw out the old and bring in the new, but we rarely use it as an opportunity to assess our own habits. The transitional qualities of Spring can be challenging, or even overwhelming, for our bodies - allergies, hay fever and Spring flus often take our immune system on a wild ride, potentially leaving us drained by the time Summer rolls around.
I will draw upon traditional and contemporary approaches to preventative Self-care that are informed by my studies in Yoga, Breathwork, Meditation and Ayurveda. Each workshop will focus on highlighting the specific guidance for each season of the year, whilst also introducing you to practical tools of Self-care that can be practised throughout the entire year to maintain a healthy, supple and adaptable body and mind.
This Spring-centred workshop will cover:
The basics of Ayurveda
How to determine, understand and balance your Doshas
Advice on structuring your morning routine in a way that supports and fortifies your overall well-being
Abhyanga (Ayurvedic self-massage)
Season-specific food guidance
Adaptogens for better immune health
